Purpose:

The East London Waste Authority (ELWA), the statutory waste disposal authority for Barking & Dagenham and neighbouring boroughs, is refreshing its Joint Resources and Waste Strategy (JRWS) as part of its preparations for a new waste disposal contract in 2027.

 

Following public consultation on the draft terms and objectives of the JRWS, the Cabinet will be provided with an update on the plans for the delivery of future waste and recycling services and asked to approve the final version of the JRWS.

Decision:

Cabinet resolved to adopt the East London Joint Resources and Waste Strategy 2027-2057, as set out at Appendix 1 to the report.
