Declaration of Members' Interests

In accordance with the Council’s Constitution, Members are asked to declare any interest they may have in any matter which is to be considered at this meeting.

Nominations for Honorary Freedom of the Borough

The Ceremonial Council is asked to consider conferring the title of Honorary Freewoman of the Borough to Ms Luljeta Nuzi, co-founder of the charity Shpresa which promotes the participation and contribution of Albanian-speaking refugees and migrants in the United Kingdom, and the title of Honorary Freeman of the Borough to Mr Terry Miller of the Independent Living Agency, the locally-based charity that supports disabled people, carers and other vulnerable residents and which celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2021.

Minutes:

The Chair advised that an extraordinary meeting of the Ceremonial Council had been called to consider nominations for the award of the Freedom of the Borough, the highest honour that a Council could bestow on an individual in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

 

Councillor Ashraf moved and Councillor Geddes seconded the nomination of Luljeta Nuzi as Honorary Freewoman of the Borough.

 

Councillor Twomey moved and Councillor D. Rodwell seconded the nomination of Terry Miller MBE as Honorary Freeman of the Borough.

 

The Ceremonial Council resolved to award the Honorary Freedom of the Borough to Luljeta Nuzi and Terry Miller MBE.
