A joint funding application by the Council and St Margaret’s Church will be made to the Heritage Lottery Fund in December 2017, which, if successful, will realise significant improvements to Abbey Green and Abbey Ruins as well as enable the archaeology collections excavated from the site to be examined, categorised, catalogued and made available to the local community.
Subject to the outcome of the funding application, the Cabinet will be asked to approve the detail of the project.
