Purpose:

The current contract for the Provision of Fleet Vehicles, Plant and Associated Services will expire on 31 August 2014 with no option to extend.

 

The Cabinet will be asked to approve proposals relating to the ‘in-sourcing’ of the Vehicle Maintenance Workshop, including the transfer of the current workshop workforce back to the Council under TUPE, and other proposals linked to the procurement of ancillary services and potential trading opportunities.

Decision:

Cabinet resolved to:

 

(i)  Approve the recommended option to ‘in-source’ the Vehicle Maintenance Workshop at the expiry of the current contract on 31 August 2015, including the transfer of the current workforce back to the Council under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE); and

 

(ii)  Authorise the Corporate Director of Adult and Community Services, in consultation with the Chief Finance Officer and the Head of Legal and Democratic Services, to explore the potential for the incorporation of a Trading Company to facilitate 3rd Party Vehicle Maintenance with the objective of income generation.
