Purpose:

In February 2014 a report was brought to the Health and Wellbeing Board which summarised the new OFSTED single inspection framework for children’s social care and Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs), covering children in need of help and protection, looked after children and care leavers.  Barking and Dagenham were inspected by OFSTED using the new framework in May 2014. 

 

The Board will be presented with the full inspection headlines and will also be asked to ensure that the proposed Action Plan, to address the areas of weakness identified by the inspection, is fit for purpose.

The Board noted and commented on:

 

(i)  The content and outcomes of the Ofsted Inspection of services for children in need, looked after children, care leavers and review of the Barking and Dagenham Safeguarding Children Board; and

 

(ii)  The Local Authority Children’s Services Improvement Plan.
