The Cabinet will be presented with a summary of school and educational performance for the 2018/19 academic year together with an update on the Education and Participation Strategy and priorities for the coming year.

Cabinet resolved to:

(i)  Renew the Council’s commitment to continuing to strengthen and develop partnerships with Barking and Dagenham’s family of schools, BDSIP, Barking & Dagenham College, CU London and other key partners to achieve the best possible outcomes and opportunities for the borough’s children and young people, which is essential as delivery of the Education & Participation Strategy 2018-22 is collectively shared by these partners and the Council;

(ii)  Note performance against the five priorities of the Education & Participation Strategy 2018-22, as set out in section 2 of the report; 

(iii)  Note the performance of schools in national tests and examinations as set out in Appendix 1 to the report; and

(iv)  Note the further achievements and progress of BDSIP in its first year of operation in Appendix 2 to the report.
