Received a report providing an update on the Council's revenue and capital budget position for the period 1 April to 31 May 2005.

 

Agreed to:

 

  1. Note the current position of the Council’s revenue and capital budget;

 

  1. Note that the Directors of Regeneration and Environment, Social Services and Housing and Health are currently reviewing their budgets to ensure a balanced position; and

 

  1. Note the position and projected out-turn for the Housing Revenue Account.

Received a report seeking approval for the Statement of Purpose for the Adoption Service which is an annual requirement.  The Statement of Purpose sets out the role and duties of the Adoption Agency, and the service that it offers to the public.

 

Agreed, in order to meet the requirement of the current National Minimum Standards for Local Authority Adoption Services in England and Wales (2003), to agree the Statement of Purpose for the Adoption Agency, attached to the report as Appendix 1.

Received a report providing a summary of the outcomes of three inspections in Children’s Services and seeking agreement of the respective Action Plans which are designed to improve the way in which services to children are provided.

 

The meeting was attended by inspectors from the Commission for Social Care Inspection, who presented the Children’s Services Inspection report.

 

Agreed, in order to help improve the services provided to children in the Borough, to:

 

  1. Note the findings of the three inspections;

 

  1. The Children’s Services Inspection Action Plan;

 

  1. The Fostering Service Action Plan; and

 

  1. The Youth Offending Team Action Plan.
