Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) Ward Boundary Review 2020

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) is undertaking a statutory review of Barking & Dagenham’s ward boundaries, with the new arrangements to take effect from the next Local Elections in May 2022.

The first stage of the review involves the Council making a submission to the LGBCE by no later than 8 September 2020 on council size, that being the preferred number of councillors which in their opinion is the optimum number required to enable the Council to function effectively, as well as enabling each councillor to deliver and fulfil their responsibilities and duties as elected ward representatives.  The review will also look at ward configuration.

The Assembly will be asked to consider and approve the Council’s submission to the LGBCE.
